Male factor infertility
Fertility is not only a woman's question. At Angels we investigate both partners from the first visit.
In a great many fertility assessments, the findings involve the male partner, and in many clinics he is the last person to be tested.
At Angels both partners are assessed from the start. Not after a year of treating one of you, and not only once something else has been ruled out.
What happens at the first visit
Semen analysis is the primary investigation for the male partner, and it is performed at the first visit rather than scheduled for later.
How it is handled
- The sample is analysed and reported by our own embryology team, here at the centre
- The results are discussed with both of you, by the doctor, in your consultation
- The pelvic scan for the female partner is advised at the same visit, so both assessments start together
Nothing about either partner's results is discussed outside that room.

Please come to the first appointment together
We ask both partners to attend the first consultation. It is not a formality. History is taken from both of you, investigations are advised for both of you, and the plan that follows is for both of you.
A couple who attends together leaves with the same understanding of what happens next, which matters more than most people expect.
Please bring any previous reports you have, from any centre.
Procedures for the male partner
Where a procedure is needed, these are available to you:
Semen analysis
Performed and reported by our own embryology team.
Sperm preparation
Included in the IUI and IVF packages, not charged separately.
TESA
Carried out by an andrologist, who attends by referral.
Semen freezing
Which of these applies, if any, is a question for your consultation rather than for a website.
What the findings change
Angels works through three stages of treatment, starting with the simplest that can work and moving on only where there is a clinical reason to.
What the assessment of both partners shows is what decides where a couple begins. Your doctor explains which stage is being recommended and why, and you are told the reasoning rather than just the conclusion.
See the three stagesThis is a private consultation
Many men put off a fertility assessment for a long time, and the reasons are rarely medical.
Your consultation is private, your reports are private, and nothing is discussed with anyone outside your care. You will not be asked to explain yourself to a receptionist.
What the first visit costs
If this is your first visit to Angels, your consultation and your scan are free, once.
After you have seen the doctor, you meet our advisor, who explains the treatment and the full cost before you decide anything.
We do not run discount offers. The price we quote you is the price you pay.
