Your first visit

Most couples arrive not knowing what to expect. This page sets out exactly what happens on the day, in order, so that nothing at the centre comes as a surprise.

Come together

Your husband or partner needs to attend the first visit with you. Both of you are looked at from the start, so the visit only works properly if both of you are there.

Bring your previous reports

Any scans, blood tests, semen analysis reports, discharge summaries or prescriptions you already have. If you have had treatment before, bring those papers too. Nothing is too old to be useful.

What happens, in order

At the desk
Your basic details are taken and a file is created for you. Nothing clinical is discussed here.
With the doctor
You meet the fertility consultant. A detailed history is taken, and if you have had treatment before, those details are noted as well. Your first consultation is with Dr Pranita, who reviews your full history before recommending anything.
Basic investigations
You are advised a pelvic ultrasound. Your husband or partner is advised a semen analysis. Both are done at this same first visit. The semen analysis is carried out and reported by our own embryology team, here at the centre.
With our advisor
After you see the doctor, you meet our advisor, who explains the treatment and the full cost before you decide anything. Nothing is begun on the day, and nothing is decided for you.

About thirty minutes with the doctor, and about an hour at the centre in all.

Nobody will rush you. You will have the time to ask every question you have.

Both partners, from the first visit

Fertility is not only a woman's question. At Angels we investigate both partners from the first visit.

Semen analysis is the primary investigation for the male partner, and it is performed at that first visit rather than weeks later. Our own embryology team carries it out and reports it here at the centre.

Your first consultation and your first scan are free

Your first consultation at Angels is free, and so is your first scan. It applies once, to your first visit to the centre, whatever brings you here, including a second opinion on treatment you have had elsewhere.

After that, our advisor will tell you what any treatment will cost before you begin it. General gynaecological consultation, menstrual health, hormonal evaluation and fertility counselling are handled inside your consultation at no separate charge.

One cycle that did not work does not mean the end of the road. It may mean the plan was not the right one. We read your previous reports before we form a view.

If you are coming for a second opinion, please send or bring your previous reports before your appointment rather than on the day, so that there is time to read them properly before you sit down with the doctor.
